Senior CBT Therapist
Edward Jones-Thomas
Edward Jones-Thomas, BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist
RMN, Psychology BA, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy BSc
Edward first worked as a Mental Health Nurse for a few years before specialising in CBT in 2004. His first interest was in adapting CBT to treat Psychosis in an inpatient ward at the Maudsley Hospital in South London.
He has since practiced extensively in both inpatient and community specialist settings. He was the Senior CBT Therapist for the Richmond upon Thames Borough in South West London assessing and treating a wide range of anxiety disorders in the community whilst working for the National OCD/BDD Service at Springfield Hospital. He also set up and delivered treatment programmes in the inpatient unit of the National Service for the most severe OCD sufferers in the country.
Most recently, he worked for 5 years as the Senior Therapist for Professor David Veale’s Obsessional Disorders Service at the Priory Hospital North London. He specialised in treating complex OCD and BDD but also treated other severe obsessional disorders. This involved both intensive individual and group therapy sessions. Apart from direct clinical work with his clients, he was at his happiest providing supervision for his colleagues at the hospital, both clinical staff and students.
He practices principally as a CBT Therapist but incorporates other approaches such as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). He likes to bring together different therapeutic approaches to best fit a person’s problems and help them move towards recovery in a way that most makes sense to them.
