Senior CBT Therapist
Jacqueline England
Senior CBT Therapist
MSc Nut.Ther., PG Dip CBT, BANT accredited, BABCP accredited, registered CNHC.
I began my current career in 1996 when I studied for a psychology degree with the Open University. I trained as a CBT Therapist by completing a BABCP accredited CBT course with Bucks New University where I learnt how to apply CBT to all the main diagnoses.
I've also studied nutritional therapy with the University of Westminster and have worked as a self-employed practitioner specializing in eating disorders. Working within a functional medicine and person-centred perspective, I offered personalised dietary and lifestyle treatment programmes.
As problems rarely exist in isolation, I often work using a trans-diagnostic approach which incorporates strategies from several CBT models.
I integrate elements of third-wave CBT into my work such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT) and mindfulness. I offer a safe, confidential space where clients can explore their problems and develop alternative, more helpful solutions and coping strategies. I have a special interest in all the anxiety disorders.
I work with the following conditions:
Anxiety and worry
Health Anxiety
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Body image issues including Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Panic disorder
Phobias
Eating disorders (bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, binge-eating disorder and obesity)
Depression
Self esteem
Perfectionism
Substance abuse/addiction
Relationship problems
Mood swings
Stress
Anger
