Lee is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, and Transactional Analysis Therapist. Having trained initially in CBT in 1995, Lee has held a number of clinical posts, education posts at the New South Wales Institute of Psychiatry, Sydney, Australia, and NHS management, including a IAPT Psychological Services Leadership post in a London NHS Trust. Latterly, Lee divides his clinical work between private practice, NHS work and working as a counsellor/therapist for a Sussex counselling charity. He has experience of working therapeutically with adults and experiencing and range of psychological problems including depression, anxiety, eating disorder, adjustment disorder, and trauma.
As Lee is Sussex based he works virtually with clients based elsewhere in the country but can see clients face to face in his therapy room based in Haywards Heath. Lee works with clients, providing short to medium term CBT/TA interventions, although for those clients who need more long term therapy he is happy to offer this.
A special interest and expertise in the treatment of depression/low self-esteem, and adjustment disorder related to bereavement/complex grief. Lee where appropriate, and in collaboration with clients, uses Transactional Analysis (TA) in combination with CBT in his clinical work.
Lee is an accredited member of the National Counselling Society and registered member of United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysis, European Institute Association of Transactional Analysis.
Whilst a clients may be familiar with CBT, they may be unfamiliar with TA. As form of psychotherapy across the UK and the world, TA, can be best described, as a theory of personality and relationships based on a study of specific ego states, a theory of social interaction or interpersonal communication and system of group and /or personal growth and personal change. TA incorporates elements of Cognitive and Behavioural therapy, hence I believe both modalities compliment one another, and was one of the reason why when I decided to do further psychotherapy training I choose TA.
He is also trained in EMDR.

TESTIMONIALS
Hi Lee,
Thank you very much, I think you have helped me enormously. Helping me to understand who I am and why, identifying and enabling me to change things - already and in the future. You have helped me understand and enabled me to cope with anxiety, helped me to understand the likely origins of my and other people’s behaviours and their issues then how I can best cope, respond and understand many situations.
You have enabled me to 'step out of myself and look back at myself to see how and what I can and will change. Some of it may take time. I know there are going to be some difficult times ahead but I feel better equipped and ready to deal with, accept, tackle difficulties and change things for myself.
A lot of what we went through in the sessions I shared with my sister so as to help her too. A lot of our issues are linked. She found it very valuable. I only wish she would stop beating herself up, do things for herself more, relax, and see past her anxiety - in the way I have now done as a result of your help and support, together with Boundaries book and The Six Pillars of Self Esteem work sheets you gave me. I would again like to thank you so very much. CH
I was hesitant of EMDR as first as the process sounded surreal. However I kept an open mind and faced my past traumas through this process. As a result it has allowed me to confront the past thoughts that were trapped in my head like a broken record. After the session it allowed me to instantly use a phase that acts as a deterrent when intrusive thoughts come to the forefront of my mind.
For my ADHD, EMDR has now allowed to focus on the future and the present. I do not use past thoughts as an excuse for bad habits and unwanted behaviours that cause harm to me. I have started to acknowledge my psychological and physical which I have previously neglected.
With time I have lost weight and I now consciously do things that I enjoy, allowing the creation of positive habits.
I have used my ADHD as a tool and allowed obsessive interests to manifest on to positive things such as food quality nutrition, exercise, importance of sleep. I realised I had to help myself, but with Lees listening skills and guidance he has helped me re set and recognise what may or may not be helpful.
I have more control over my thoughts and actions.
I now know there are positives out there there, I just had not found them or knew how to. I have made changes to my daily routine and the therapy with EMDR has helped me to do this.
I equate my journey with learning to ride a Bike again. I now cycle down life’s paths making better choices and hope to continue avoiding negative routes.
Lees therapy acts as a stabiliser on my bike and reminds me of the positives and tricks to alter negative states of my mind. I find it hard to give myself positive critiques however I can now say I am proud of myself and grateful for embracing therapy and EMDR.
