My experience of CBT and therapy with Lorna can only be described as life changing. I was diagnosed with depression after experiencing suicidal thoughts over a sustained period of time but with no clear cause as to why it had kicked in when it did. I was prescribed medication, a psychiatrist and Lorna as my psychological therapist to do a course of CBT with. At the beginning therapy was not enjoyable and I found it very difficult because it forced me to focus on some painful experiences from my past that I had not previously dealt with and had emotionally buried deep down. Lorna was great, even though we have never actually met other than virtually, she could read me so well and knew when to push on somethings but most importantly, she knew when to stop on the things I found too uncomfortable. As the weeks went on and we worked through my issues together, things became easier and I was able to process a lot of stuff I had held onto from my past. I am pretty sure Lorna knows me better than I know myself!
The process of CBT and the framework that you get taught helped me not only deal with the past but the new experiences and scenarios life throws at you day to day. Through therapy I had discovered that I didn't understand my own emotions because if it was a negative emotion, I just pushed it away to protect myself. I now know that negative emotions have a purpose and I have no reason to be ashamed or embarrassed by them but I am also armed with the mechanism to process them in a healthy way.
I have enjoyed immense 'post therapy growth' where I have managed to achieve things that were only ever a dream for years to come. Working with Lorna has not only literally saved my life but made it better ten-fold! I cannot recommend her highly enough and will never be able to repay her for helping me discover who I truly am.

So many big changes happened in my life so quickly, leaving me in a place which was quite dark and unpleasant, all during the midst of the pandemic. I was having severe anxiety, panic attacks that lasted hours and I was not sure of how to deal with it. I found Lorna's details and got in contact, in which things started to change for me, and over time I learned techniques of how to manage my anxiety. I also learned about how important mindfulness is to your mental health, in which I currently have learned to pick up the habit of keeping a journal, which has aided my development greatly. I cannot thank Lorna enough for showing me that there is always a method of dealing with these issues.
The main change I have noticed is I can see colours again.

Thanks agains for all of your help, the sessions really helped a lot and things are a lot brighter.
"I was referred to Lorna for CBT during a period when I was struggling with anxiety and depression. Very quickly the therapy helped my immediate crisis and then we went on to address sources of unhelpful thoughts, feelings and triggers. I found ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) particularly helpful and it provided me with a fresh, more optimistic, value based outlook for the future. Lorna is very insightful and perceptive and was able to help me identify and articulate unhelpful thoughts and feelings and introduced me to techniques to handle these. I would definitely recommend Lorna as a therapist ."

I have written a quick summary as follows:
'After researching my symptoms and reading a book on it I thought thank goodness I am not alone! I am not going mad! I am in my mid forties and was running downhill into what I had discovered was General Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
About 5 years ago I guess I had my first anxiety / panic attack although at the time I had no idea what it was. So I started to see a dietician thinking that perhaps my eating habits had caused the issue. However being a fit and healthy person who doesn't drink very much alcohol or take any drugs I thought that changing my diet might not help anyway. Indeed this transpired to be the case as I continued to have these anxiety attacks which were on the increase. I started to avoid situations that I knew may cause me high levels of anxiety such as driving on motorways.
Over the years my condition was only getting worse and I didn't want to start avoiding so many situations. I researched more about my symptoms and was convinced it was General Anxiety Disorder. So why had this popped up now and not years before? I had a number of questions that I was hoping someone could answer. I went to see my Doctor to discuss this deteriorating condition and was very keen to start reversing this. The Doctor confirmed I had GAD and said there were many options for treatment. I opted for a Cognitive therapy approach as all this had to be psychological.
So I then got in touch with Lorna who specialises in this area. It was great to have someone with the knowledge to understand and help. She listened intently to what I had to say offering some great insight, advice and answered many questions I had. It was then that I turned a corner. With the further knowledge, guidance, support and advice I gained from Lorna I have now accepted my anxiety disorder thereby gaining back control. After progress was made step by step, over about a 3 month period seeing Lorna on a weekly basis, I am now at the stage where I do not avoid situations and my anxiety levels and intensities have decreased massively. So I am now near the top of the escalator of what I would call normal rather than descending on it into the further depths of GAD. Thank goodness for that.
So thanks Lorna for your help here and I am sure you will and have helped many people improve, if not completely solve, their issues.'
We struggled to find a CBT therapist who specialised in younger children (10 years) but thankfully the Meyer Therapy Practice put us in contact with Lorna Vincent. By splitting the session time up into bitesize chunks, time was given to the whole family, to our daughter and to us as parents, allowing us all to work together and individually to better understand our daughter's autism diagnosis. Through the process we learned to understand our daughters needs and how we could best support them. Although we were hesitant at first at the thought of doing this online, it worked well in practice, and our daughter had comfort from taking the sessions in her comfort zone and safe space, alleviating any possible anxiety and making the sessions more productive.
