Dr Prarthana Shetty
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and The British Psychological Society (BPS). I have extensive experience working collaboratively with diverse client groups across different settings including the NHS (primary and secondary care mental health services), the charity sector, and through private practice. As a Counselling Psychologist, I am trained in a range of therapeutic models including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I work within the traditional CBT framework as well as third-wave CBT approaches such as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Mindfulness.
Most of us will experience times in our lives when we may need support, perhaps even more so during these challenging times we find ourselves in. People seek psychological support for many reasons; some may choose to work towards a specific goal, while others may wish to explore broader issues such as challenging life situations. I understand that it can be daunting to take the decision to trust someone with the vulnerable or painful parts of you. My role is to hold a safe, compassionate space where we can explore your difficulties together and work towards change. My approach to psychological therapy is integrative. This means I often draw from a range of therapeutic approaches when required, to meet each client’s individual needs in an empathic, authentic and non-judgmental way.
