Online CBT Therapy
We have been offering online therapy for many years. Being a specialist therapy practice means clients have sought our services not only outside of London but also from abroad. We also have a lot of clients that live locally but choose to access our services remotely because of the convenience of it.
We are confident and experienced in adapting therapy techniques to online platforms. We endeavour to provide you the same level of quality as you would in face to face therapy.
We offer Online CBT Therapy sessions via a number of flexible, secure online or telephone options such as Skype, Zoom and phone.
According to the British Psychological Society there is good evidence that therapy can be delivered competently via online platforms or telephone and that it is possible to build up therapeutic relationships that are as strong as those formed in face to face therapy.
The therapy process works in exactly the same way as in face to face therapy with materials and exercises being shared online. This means that you can be talking to your therapist whilst working in real time with relevant material on the screen.
We have found that online CBT Therapy can be particularly effective when working with Anxiety disorders including OCD, BDD , Vomit Phobia , Agoraphobia and other specific phobias. This is because Exposure therapy can be carried out both at the clients home and outside with the Therapist being present online and actively directive and supportive.
For example in contamination OCD it is often the case that the problem is worst at the person’s own home and in the old days domiciliary visits were quite an integral part of treatment with the therapist travelling to the client’s home to guide exposure treatment. This was harder to organise logistically and would significantly increase the cost of sessions having to add travelling time to the fees. With online therapy the therapist can be present in the client’s home virtually and guide and support exposure work saving extra costs and providing the convenience of arranging sessions to accommodate travelling logistics .
At a time when most of us lead very busy lifestyles online therapy is a great option that will save you time and the inconvenience of travelling to see a therapist. You can be in the comfort or your own home or if you travel a lot you can keep the continuity of your sessions. Online CBT therapy is also often chosen by clients who have childcare demands.
Another important benefit is that you have the ability to access the right therapist for you without being limited to what’s available in your area, city or country.
Finally some people choose online therapy because they like the privacy and discreteness of not having to go into a practice.
Whatever your reasons please get in touch if you would like to discuss how online therapy might work for you.

I have been having remote exposure and cognitive behavioural therapy for 6 months. I find remote sessions, via Skype, are much more convenient and beneficial for me. First it doesn’t require travelling to another location, but most importantly I can complete exposures in my home, where I have to face most of the problems I encounter with OCD. The comfort of the home environment is therefore challenged by the exposures creating the maximum impact for improvement. I also find that being at home, I can be more relaxed for mindfulness and other exercises that are covered in the sessions, and I can also spend more time after the session thinking about what it was about rather than having to travel back home after an office session. I strongly recommend remote therapy, and find they are more suited to me than in-office sessions.

Following our initial face-to-face meeting, I have had a number of sessions via skype due to lockdown. I have found it very effective and my therapist has managed to create an environment which I feel comfortable in and able to share my thoughts and feelings easily. In fact, online sessions are proving to be more convenient and therefore stress-free in terms of logistics. I would be more than happy to continue our sessions online even after lockdown has finished.

“I have suffered from OCD my whole life. Growing up in rural Scotland meant help was limited to local generalised therapists. Unfortunately, many of these attempts at treatment were outdated, counter productive and prolonged my suffering. Being able to access an experienced OCD specialist from my living room has enabled me to get the the most up to date treatment but without the expense of having to travel. With Rosa’s help and the help of modern technology I feel more confident than ever of living along side this illness”

Having our sessions online was really helpful as it allowed me to be flexible with where I had our sessions, especially when I was travelling or away with work and still wanted the support our sessions gave. It was good to be able to see each other and have a session as normal but not have to travel. I found it really helpful to understand why I think the way that I do and how things from my past that I thought were long past were still shaping how I was behaving now. I really liked the way that we looked at the science of the brain and how this could be used to be kinder and more supportive to myself.

I have found the online sessions as useful and effective as being physically on-site, with the added advantage of being able to talk to my therapist from the comfort of my home. Because I live far from Judith’s office I have saved significant commute time this way. Video-calling from home also gives my therapist a view into my home, where many of my OCD compulsions live, enabling us to do the exposures together in real time. The video and sound quality through Zoom are usually good and the tool is quick to set up and use.
